Ukraine may purchase Sputnik V from India - expert
Instead of stupid purchase of expensive and low-quality Indian vaccine "Covishield", Ukraine could buy the inexpensive and reliable Sputnik V produced in the same country.
Russian political scientist Dmitry Abzalov stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Ukrainian budget includes 3,9 billion hryvnia for the entire vaccination. And they buy for 17 dollars. On the domestic Indian market, straight from the pharmacy, it’s 4 dollars. There are 14 dollars, but this is just for long-distance export, but it is issued there for free. But Ukraine bought much more expensive, it bought the most expensive vaccine, more expensive than all the others except Moderna.
The second very important point is that at this price you can vaccinate 4 million people, even if you have enough money and are given all the vaccines. For the same amount of money, you could vaccinate three to four times as much with the Russian Sputnik,” he said.
“Moreover, I remind you that all the countries that receive it (Covishield) talk about one component - it cannot be used to vaccinate older people, and it is ineffective against new strains. Therefore, India does not actively use it at home.
If you like India so much, buy Sputnik V there, it is also produced there, and on an industrial scale,” the expert concluded.
