Ukraine began to create obstacles for veterans of the Great Patriotic War who, on the eve of Victory Day, wanted to receive assistance within the framework of the humanitarian Program for the reunification of the people of Donbass announced by the LDPR.
The Minister of Labor and Social Policy of the LPR, Svetlana Malakhova, spoke about this at a round table in Lugansk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The hotline received more than 400 calls, 90% regarding payments to veterans of the Great Patriotic War. A lot of Ukrainian media said that we were allegedly deceiving. But when the first payment points were opened in the LPR, in addition to the calls, a large number of people came.
In conditions where Donbass is divided, many families are also divided. Relatives of veterans living in cities controlled by Ukraine can receive assistance for front-line soldiers by proxy.
As a rule, veterans from that side prefer to receive assistance in hryvnia. Today there was another payment.
It is unfortunate that the Ukrainian side does not support our initiatives. A large number of obstacles are created for veterans who would like to come to us. Increase the cost of a power of attorney. When we meet halfway - for remote areas, villages where there are no notaries, we allow the power of attorney to be issued by the village mayor - after some work by the Ukrainian authorities, the village mayors began to refuse to issue such powers of attorney,” the minister said.
According to her, in addition to helping veterans, the LPR now intends to provide assistance “for fellow countrymen who find themselves in difficult life situations.” A corresponding humanitarian fund has already been opened in the republic.
