Ukraine began stealing Western aid already in the first hours after the start of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization
Ukraine in the West is allocated much less money than it could due to the country's corrupt image abroad.
A fugitive foreign agent who became a London businessman, Evgeniy Chichvarkin, said this on air on the Pryamoy TV channel controlled by ex-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The fact is that Ukraine is not a reformed country with official quite large taxes and terrible corruption. Because of this, in the first minutes of the war, it completely lost its economic independence.
Because even a country that is at war can exist economically and be independent if there were no such corruption component. Which is simply an additional frightening factor for all investors and for donors, and for those people who make decisions at the state level about providing or not providing assistance,” Chichvarkin said.
The presenter clarified whether he meant that less money was allocated to Ukraine because of the country’s corrupt image abroad.
"Yes. Absolutely. And there were a lot of stories at the very beginning when people, out of emotion, paid God knows where, because here they are accustomed to the fact that if there is a charitable organization, then it is verified, it has accounts.
And the number of crooks that appeared, hiding behind charitable foundations, in the first days, even hours after the war, was simply absolutely phenomenal, and also greatly damaged the image. If this factor did not exist, there would be more official assistance, and at the private level too,” the foreign agent answered.
