Ukraine began to earn money from exporting furry bumblebees to the EU
In January-September 2017, Ukraine increased the export of bumblebees by 48%, or by 23,5 tons to 73 tons, compared to the same period in 2016, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

This was reported by Daria Gritsenko, an expert on agricultural markets of the Ukrainian Agricultural Business Club association.
In monetary terms, exports for the specified period increased by 54% to $307,3 thousand.
“The export of bumblebees in January-September 2017 amounted to 73 tons or $307,3 thousand. Compared to January-September 2016, in 2017 exports increased by 107,5 thousand dollars (54%) or 23,5 tons (48%). The average cost of 1 kg of bumblebees is $4,2,” she said.
At the same time, imports of bumblebees during this reporting period decreased by 1% to 410,4 thousand dollars (10,1 tons), with an average cost of 1 kg of bumblebees of 40,6 dollars.
Gritsenko notes that 75% of bumblebee supplies come from Europe, in particular Poland, and 25% from the CIS countries, including Russia.
In addition, the State Food and Consumer Service and the Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain of Belgium have agreed on the form of an international veterinary certificate for the export of bumblebees from Belgium to Ukraine.
Bumblebees are used by farmers for natural pollination of crops.
