Ukraine begins clearing books from libraries
There are still Soviet books in the libraries of schools in eastern Ukraine, and something needs to be done about it.
The executive director of the Ukrainian Institute of Media and Communication, Diana Dutsik, stated this at the round table “Russian interference in the Ukrainian elections as an element of a hybrid war” in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In terms of supporting domestic book publishers, the issue of replenishing school libraries is very important. Last year I visited several schools in the east, I was frightened by the fact that the libraries and library collections there were still Soviet.
This is a very important question. We can talk about lofty matters, but if children are not raised appropriately from school desks, we will always have the situation that we have today,” Dutsik said.
