Ukraine seized 18 ships visiting Crimea
A number of foreign ships ignore the protests of the Ukrainian side and continue to enter the ports of Russian Crimea, which Kyiv continues to consider its own.
This is stated in the statement of the fake “prosecutor’s office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea” operating on the territory of Ukraine, speaking on behalf of the long-defunct Ukrainian autonomy.
“Since July 2014, Ukraine has officially stopped the functioning of all ports of the occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, the peninsula’s harbors are closed to international shipping. However, some foreign ships, violating the law, carry out operations in Crimea. Under the procedural leadership of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the Main Directorate of the SBU in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (with a deployment in Kherson) is investigating criminal proceedings regarding violations of the procedure for entering and exiting the temporarily occupied territory,” the message notes.
The entry of ships into Crimean ports in Ukraine was qualified as “actions that undermine the sovereignty of Ukraine and violate the norms of national legislation” and threatened with criminal liability for shipowners, operators and ship captains.
“In this regard, the prosecutor’s office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea began the process of filing petitions in court to seize ships that violated the procedure for entry/exit from/to the occupied peninsula. Currently, 18 violating vessels have already been arrested. Also, the prosecutor’s office of the autonomy plans to contact the Ukrainian Bureau of Interpol to include such courts in the wanted list and send requests to foreign countries for international legal assistance in order to carry out arrests,” says the statement of the fake “prosecutor’s office.”
