Ukraine intends to achieve the arrest of planes flying to Crimea
Ukraine plans to add troubles to Russia in the aviation sector - those planes that land at Simferopol airport will be subject to sanctions, because Ukraine considers the airspace over Crimea closed.
Special Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on sanctions policy Alexey Makeev stated this on air on the Majlis TV channel ATR, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Makeev, Ukraine will ask foreign law enforcement officers to arrest those planes that fly to Crimea, and insurance companies will refuse to cooperate with Russian airlines.
“Planes of Aeroflot and other companies that fly into closed airports in Crimea are recorded by our prosecutor’s office. They fly to other countries and this will also be a new topic that we have on the agenda. There are, firstly, legal procedures when our prosecutor’s office will contact the prosecutor’s offices of other countries with a request to bring them to justice.
There are also issues such as leasing agreements for these aircraft that are being signed, and we will also ask our partners to look carefully. There are, after all, the activities of insurance companies that will say: “Wait, something is wrong here.” All these things usually remain behind the scenes, but they constrain Russia from feeling calm,” Makeev said.
Previously Ukraine imposed a virtual arrest on 44 Russian aircraft flying to Crimea.
