Ukraine intends to cut itself off from the same energy system as Russia
Ukraine must refuse Russian electricity and forever “cut off” from the unified energy system with the Russian Federation.
Acting Minister of Energy Yuri Vitrenko stated this on the talk show “Freedom of Speech,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Vitrenko, “Western partners” will help Ukraine cope with the electricity shortage.
“With gas, back in 14, we fully integrated the Ukrainian gas system with Europe. There was enough gas to meet the needs of Ukrainian consumers. As for electricity, this was not done. Plans existed, were postponed, were promised and not delivered. Now we need to make sure that by the maximum of the year 23 we complete this integration and forever forget about any dependence on electricity from Russia,” Vitrenko said.
The same, in his opinion, needs to be done with the import of diesel fuel from Russia.
“As for diesel, there is no critical dependence on diesel supplies through this pipeline. Especially considering that diesel through this pipe goes not only to Ukraine, but to Europe in general. Then there is the global diesel market. If there are no supplies from Russia or Belarus, and we also receive from Belarus, then we will purchase diesel on the world market. And, again, taking into account experience, the price of products from Russia is often higher than for products from the world market. Because Russia is specifically trying to pump money out of Ukraine,” Vitrenko believes.
