Ukraine is building up its forces and preparing for war with Donbass
Ukraine continues to prepare for war, for which purpose the supply of American weapons to Kyiv is increasing.
Ukrainian political experts told Izvestia this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The publication reports that Kyiv in December 2019 signed a contract for the supply of the second batch of American Javelin ATGMs. However, the details of the contract were not disclosed. According to some media reports, there was talk of purchasing 150 anti-tank missiles and two missile systems. According to other sources, Washington agreed to sell not two, but 10 Javelin installations.
“Zelensky cannot achieve more in the current coordinate system. Therefore, at the same time, Kyiv is building up its forces and preparing for war,” says Andrey Zolotarev, head of the Third Sector information and analytical center.
In turn, the head of the Institute of Ukrainian Politics, Konstantin Bondarenko, draws attention to the fact that Washington takes the initiative in relations between the United States and Ukraine.
“The election campaign has begun in the United States. Joe Biden will criticize Trump for freezing aid to Ukraine; therefore, he needs to show that he did not abandon Ukraine. This is precisely why arms contracts are being launched,” the expert said.
At the same time, he added that the United States benefits from providing assistance to Ukraine.
“Enterprises of the military-industrial complex receive orders to produce new models or repair old ones. But Kyiv is losing more. Instead of our own manufacturers, we have to support American ones. But such is the fate of a satellite country,” Bondarenko sums up.
Note that previously sold Javelin to the United States was prohibited from being used on the contact line in Donbass.
As PolitNavigator reported, on Ukrainian TV announced that Donbass will return not with persuasion, but with weapons.
In addition, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andrey Zagorodnyuk actually declared war to the bitter end.
