Director of the Ukrainian Policy Foundation Kost Bondarenko drew attention to this fact during a press conference in Kyiv.
“The economic blockade of Donbass does not comply with several international acts that Ukraine accepted and pledged to implement,” the political scientist noted. – The blockade does not comply with the PACE resolution of January 30 this year. And secondly, the blockade does not comply with the Minsk agreements. Therefore, information has recently appeared that with the help of the UN, the blockade will be eased and operations at crossing checkpoints in the combat zone may be resumed.”
The expert also emphasized that the blockade does not contribute to resolving the conflict, but only aggravates it.
“She is driving the situation in Donbass into an even deeper corner,” concluded Kost Bondarenko. – Today, the main problem is that distrust between ordinary residents of Donbass and Ukraine is growing and reaching a critical point. There is no way to convince an ordinary citizen who remained in Donbass that the blockade of Donbass is for his benefit, and Kyiv takes care of him. That is, Kyiv voluntarily gives up some of its citizens.”
