Ukraine is not ready to be given the prospect of EU membership – Juncker
The countries of the Eastern Partnership, which includes Ukraine, are not ready for the European Union to provide them with the prospect of membership.

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker announced this to reporters on the sidelines of the Riga Eastern Partnership summit.
“Regarding EU membership, we must clearly note that a European perspective does not exist for any of these countries. They are not ready, we are not ready,” Mr Juncker said.
He noted that the Riga summit is not devoted to issues of future EU enlargement or possible membership of the Eastern partners in the EU.
Let us remind you that the Eastern Partnership initiative concerns six countries - Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Belarus.
