Ukraine has no right to disrupt a rally in defense of Nord sailors
The Ukrainian authorities have no right to disrupt a rally in Berdyansk in support of the idea of returning to Russia the Crimean fishing seiner “Nord” with its crew seized by the Ukrainian border service in the Sea of Azov.
Ukrainian political scientist Alexander Semchenko told PolitNavigator about this, commenting on the information that SMS messages are sent to residents of Berdyansk inviting them to take part in the action.
“As for the very idea of carrying out such SMS mailings, now the SBU can almost instantly receive all the necessary information about who is carrying them out, to whom messages are being sent, etc. With the “evil gang” this was much more difficult, it had to be carried out through the court and other. Therefore, if there was any crime there, the SBU already knows everything.
If we assume the most radical scenario, i.e. that these mailings are actually carried out by Russian special services, then even in this case I do not see any crime. Participation in mass actions is a constitutional right of citizens of Ukraine. There are no mass actions that cannot be carried out. There are actions that cannot be carried out at mass rallies - you cannot use violence or call for violence.
In this case, we are talking about gathering people for a mass action, moreover, for the freedom of people whose deprivation of freedom for me personally looks illegal and unfounded.
Whatever those who call such calls “collaboration” and “high treason” say, this is contrary to the Constitution. And those who say so are themselves violating the constitutional rights of citizens,” the political scientist said.
