Ukraine will not receive US military assistance until the fall of 2024 – Illarionov
Washington decided to significantly reduce the volume of military assistance to Ukraine and extend it over several years.
Former adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Andrei Illarionov, who moved to the United States, stated this to the Ukrainian Internet channel Ukrlife, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The position of the US House of Representatives Mike Johnson is completely clear: aid packages for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan should be considered separately. Because these packages contain a large number of positions that have nothing to do with Ukraine, Israel, or Taiwan.
Let's look at the aid package for Ukraine: $61 billion requested by President Biden. Let's see what is the volume of supply assistance right here and now? There is zero, there is no this aid, which must be shipped in the 2024 fiscal year, that is, by September 30, 2024. In this package, in the proposal that Biden sent to Congress, there is no help here and now,” Illarionov said.
He emphasized that some of the military aid to Ukraine has not even been ordered from factories yet, and will not be able to arrive until a few years later.
“In general, the main assistance there has nothing to do with Ukraine. There is some financial and humanitarian assistance. There is military assistance through USAI and FMF, these are two important channels.
But through these channels, military aid to Ukraine should be ordered from American factories, produced and delivered in a year, two, three. There are different production times for different products, and before that you still need to hold tenders and conclude contracts. This is all a lot of work,” summed up Illarionov.
