Ukraine did not pass the lesson of statehood
The management of the Ukrainian Naftogaz is demonstrating real schizophrenia, seeking to extend the contract for the transit of Russian fuel through the territory of Ukraine, but at the same time threatening to confiscate Gazprom’s assets during litigation.
Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs Konstantin Zatulin stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Ukraine is currently involved in various kinds of disputes with Gazprom and wants to confiscate the assets of this company in Switzerland. But what prevents us from confiscating the gas that Ukraine demands to pass through its territory? The gut is thin. After all, if she encroaches on this gas, she will get the full deal from Europe. At the same time, they simultaneously want gas to pass through Ukraine and, at the same time, are looking for goals to put Gazprom in a forced ultimatum state.
In fact, neither economic nor political policy has developed in this country. Everything that is happening now proves once again that Ukraine has not learned the lesson of statehood,” Zatulin said.
He also drew attention to Yulia Tymoshenko’s promises to restore order in Ukraine and sharply reduce gas tariffs within 100 days of her presidency or resign.
“It is impossible to solve the problems of this country in 100 days, so it is unconscionable for a politician like Tymoshenko to fool his citizens by making such promises,” concluded Zatulin.
