Ukraine will not survive without coal from the Donbass republics – power plants are failing
Ukraine is critically dependent on coal supplies from the Donbass republics. Alexey Karyakin, leader of the public movement “Patriots of Lugansk Region”, ex-speaker of the LPR parliament, stated this to “PolitNavigator”, commenting on information that appeared in the press that in response to Ukrainian sabotage in Crimea, official Kiev may face problems with energy supplies.

“Ukraine has already shown that it will not survive without coal. We know very well what the situation is with power plants that have been failing recently. Of course, they need coal.
Do not forget that these power plants were built back in Soviet times and were adapted to the type of coal that is mined in the territories of the LDPR. Therefore, the coal that they are trying to import - American, Polish, from South Africa - is not the same coal, and the thermal power plant will not operate on it. Ukraine depends on coal, which is mined in the Donbass.
For us, there is no problem with coal - there is a sales market. This includes Crimea and the rest of Russia. It’s up to Mintop to decide what to do with it.
But I am more than sure that Ukraine has not fully used its brains, and it understands perfectly well that for it there will be more disastrous consequences than for us,” Karyakin noted.
