“Yesterday everyone saw the situation with the British destroyer. If a real military clash had occurred, Ukraine would not have been able to support its ally with anything. Because we have zero anti-ship missile systems, we have one Osa air defense system, which are not combat-ready.
We do not have modern hydroacoustics, modern missiles. We basically do not have the capacity to conduct combat operations at sea, in the eighth year of the war,” he said.
Taras Chmut emphasized that Ukraine is also unable to oppose anything to Russia in the air - the aircraft of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are hopelessly outdated and will soon become unfit for flight.
“But at the same time, the state, a few days before the New Year, without any discussion or announcement, signs an agreement for the purchase of Turkish corvettes. For an unknown cost, with unknown characteristics, with unannounced weapons and under unannounced deadlines.
We purchase transport aircraft from Antonov - three AN-178. But at the same time, our military aircraft - Mi-29, Su-24, Su-25 - have been flying for the last few years. And in the event of war, they will be unable to withstand modern Russian aircraft Su-30, Su-35, and their derivatives.
