Russian aviation circles have confirmed that Ukraine has indeed closed the space above the combat area for flights, but up to 7800 meters. It is possible to fly higher, but this is reckless, Kommersant’s source believes, since in this case, too, Ukraine will have to bear some responsibility for the death of the airliner, which should have completely banned flights over this area.
The publication’s interlocutor believes that this is due to the fact that Ukraine receives a fee for providing navigation services, and blocking a busy route will cause significant losses. Late yesterday evening, Eurocontrol closed civil aviation flights over the entire territory of Ukraine.
