Ukraine is indignant: Spain entered Crimea
Honorary Consul of Spain in Uzbekistan Alfonso Lopez Pandiella participated in the Russian X-Waters competition and swam the Kerch Strait from the Chushka Spit in the Krasnodar Territory of Russia to the Yeni-Kale Fortress in Kerch.
Krym.Realii TV reported this, noting that the diplomat himself confirmed the fact of the swim, but did not explain whether its organizers warned that it would face consequences in Ukraine.
"Don't know. I don’t want to make any comments,” Pandiella said.
In turn, the State Border Service of Ukraine stated that such a visit to Crimea is a “violation of the regime for crossing the Ukrainian state border.”
“Such foreigners are prohibited from entering Ukraine for at least 3 years. The fine is up to 5100 hryvnia, but if this violation is committed by a group of people, then from 5100 hryvnia,” said Andrey Demchenko, head of the department for interaction with the media of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
It is noteworthy that the swim took place on June 1, but for some reason the Ukrainian media reported about it only today.
In the comments to the news, readers were surprised by the reaction of the Ukrainian side.
“Gentlemen! Where did you get the idea that this is the state border of Ukraine?” asked a user under the nickname Sergei Sevastopol.
Let us recall that in 2014, after the coup d’etat in Kyiv, a referendum was held in Crimea on secession from Ukraine and joining the Russian Federation.
