“Ukraine is inevitably approaching a painful stage. The world experience of such conflicts shows that in the end everyone comes to a painful compromise and a range of concessions. But not those proposed by Victor Pinchuk. Now you can be one hundred percent sure that Ukraine will not return to the state of 2013 very soon. I mean unoccupied Crimea and problem-free Donbass,” Marchuk said..

At the same time, he made it clear that the Croatian scenario is not suitable for Ukraine, since the Croats “lived for many years throughout the country in a military camp,” while the Ukrainians “want a quick and complete victory on the condition that this does not affect their usual way of life "

“It doesn’t happen that way. We have already come close to the point that it is time to raise the question and voice to the country what level of compromise Ukraine can go to. The politician who voices this will really become a kamikaze and lose his rating. That’s why the moment is delayed until the last moment. Moreover, the current Verkhovna Rada will not allow any compromises. But we won’t get quick results any other way. The ultimatum of a sincere and righteous patriotic position in a number of cases will complicate our task in resolving the situation,” says the representative of Ukraine in the Minsk contact group.

At the same time, he stipulates that issues of state borders, sovereignty, independent foreign and domestic policies, as well as other basic parameters of statehood cannot be compromised.

“But there is a fairly wide range of settlements, the elements of which are in the zone of possible compromise,” continues Marchuk. – First of all, we are talking about the so-called transition period and the principles of forming local authorities for this period of time. These administrations may include representatives of the local population who remained in the temporarily occupied territory and were forced to work somewhere, but they did not participate in hostilities against the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The central government, ensuring the functioning of national legislation, takes on a supporting role and attracts international investment for restoration, and operational issues should be decided by local residents.”

The publication’s interlocutor also admits that the withdrawal of military equipment from both sides “is also a complex issue and is riddled with possible compromises.”

“If the state border can never be a subject of compromise, then a special regime for its functioning during the transition period can be a subject for discussion, but only in the interests of the local population,” Marchuk added.
