The official pretext for the shutdown is the removal of the 330 kV Kakhovka – Ostrovskaya power line (owned by the state enterprise NEC Ukrenergo) for repairs.

From 19:40 on the peninsula, rolling emergency shutdowns of consumers began according to schedule.

Crimea, as you know, depends on electricity supplies from the mainland; it cannot fully provide itself with electricity.

Deputy Prime Minister Rustam Temirgaliev said that the republican authorities are trying to solve the problem with the help of mobile generators.

“If Kyiv behaves like this, we will have such a regime of limited energy consumption for about a month and a half, then it will be easier,” the official said.
