Lutsenko told what the special status of Donbass would look like according to Kyiv. “Even areas of Lugandon that are temporarily beyond our control are still part of Ukraine. The border becomes ours and we must isolate this special zone, take control of it, including engineering structures, and invite them to compete not only with weapons, but also with their standard of living,” Lutsenko said.
In other words, writes RG, in the east of Ukraine, Kyiv will create isolated reservations for its own citizens, where they will place all those dissatisfied with the actions of the Ukrainian oligarchs. Or we are talking about concentration camps surrounded by barbed wire and other engineering structures.
“We need time to strengthen the army, including the lines along the entire perimeter of the Ukrainian border. I know that negotiations and preparations are underway at the General Staff, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs to strengthen the southern flank,” the newspaper quotes Lutsenko.
Poroshenko himself does not speak out about how he sees the status of the Lugansk and Donetsk republics. Assessing the agreements reached in Minsk, he mentioned only two points of agreement that were of a purely tactical nature: the withdrawal of illegal armed groups and taking control of the border.
The more time passes since the Minsk ceasefire agreements, the more surprising these agreements are transformed as presented by representatives of official Kyiv. And the less chance remains that the concluded truce will allow the parties to the conflict to find a political solution, the RG concludes.
