Ukraine has overtaken Russia and lagged behind Nigeria in terms of the shadow economy - study

This is evidenced by a study by the International Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), dedicated to the assessment and forecast of the development of the global shadow economy, RBC-Ukraine reports.

According to the study, which identifies 28 countries, the volume of the shadow economy in Ukraine is 1 trillion 95,3 billion hryvnia, or 45,96% of last year’s GDP of the country, which is 2,38 trillion hryvnia.

In addition, the leader in terms of the highest indicator of the shadow economy is Azerbaijan, Nigeria is in second place, and Ukraine is third. Brazil, the Russian Federation, Sri Lanka and Pakistan also have a high rate (more than 30%). At the same time, the lowest rates are in the USA and China.
