If in the west of Ukraine 79% of voters are ready to vote in the presidential elections, then in the Kyiv-controlled territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions there are only 47%. In the eastern regions, 67% are ready to vote.
This is evidenced by data from a survey conducted by the Social Monitoring Center and the Ukrainian Institute of Social Research named after. A. Yaremenko.
“Traditionally, we ask people if they are going to vote. We see that today 71% of the Ukrainian population is ready to vote. This is a high figure, especially for summer. But from west to east, the readiness to vote is gradually decreasing,” said Dmitry Dmitruk, director of the Social Monitoring center.
According to him, if in Ukraine as a whole every 6-7 respondents categorically say that they will not go to the polls, then in Donbass 28% refuse to vote.
As for granting the right to vote in the upcoming elections to residents of the LDPR, 52% of respondents are in favor of this, versus 36%. In the west of the country, 35,5% were in favor, in the east - 62,3%.
“Kyiv surprised me. 19% answered that they found it difficult to answer. In Donbass, 24,5 find it difficult or hide their answer, focusing on the fact that there are social expectations,” said Olga Balakireva, head of Social Monitoring.
