Ukraine is doomed to a federal structure
Ukraine will sooner or later be forced to turn into a state with a federal structure.
Political scientist Kost Bondarenko said this on the air of the talk show “Hard with Vlashchenko,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, the administrative-territorial structure of the country that developed during the Soviet period does not correspond to its economic zoning, so it must be changed.
At the same time, Bondarenko says that he previously proposed separating three large federal parts of Ukraine, which now included Russian Crimea.
“In reality, this administrative-territorial system, which was formed back in Soviet times, has been created very chaotically in Ukraine, and it does not correspond to today’s economic zoning... For a long time, almost 30 years, I constantly said until 2014 that Ukraine should be a state with three federates - Crimean Autonomy, Galicia and Donbass.
This would at least make it possible to accumulate the ambitions of the elites of these regions within their formations and not interfere with the central elite building Ukraine. Because in our country, as a result, everything turned into a confrontation between the West and the East in the struggle for who will own the main prize - Kiev. Therefore, I think that sooner or later we will return to this issue,” Bondarenko said.
