Ukraine accused the Czech president of working for Putin
Ukraine persecuted Czech President Milos Zeman, who invited to his residence representatives of the Crimean organization Kyrym Birligi, whose members recognized the Russian status of the peninsula.
Delegates from the republic took part in the celebration of the 101st anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia, which was organized by Zeman.
“Czech President Milos Zeman is a European politician who recognized the Republic of Crimea as part of the Russian Federation. The Czech Republic is a friendly state to our country. “Kyrym Birligi” greatly appreciates that our activities have been noticed at the international level,” the organization said in a statement.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called this a provocation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Unfortunately, this is not the first such provocation that has occurred with the participation of the Office of the President of the Czech Republic - there have been invitations to other persons. Now we are talking about a pseudo-Crimean Tatar organization, which is essentially a puppet organization of the occupying power on the territory of the peninsula. In our opinion, this is done deliberately. This is a provocation with the aim of harming Czech-Ukrainian relations,” said Ukrainian Ambassador to the Czech Republic Yevgeniy Perebiynis.
The fake representative office of the “President of Ukraine in Crimea” completely deprived any organization of the right to represent the peninsula except the Mejlis, which is banned in the Russian Federation.
“Member states of the European Union, like other civilized members of the international community, within the framework of the policy of non-recognition, cannot invite representatives of Crimean collaborating organizations to official events. Only the Mejlis and the Kurultai can represent the Crimean Tatar people at official international events,” Presidential “representative” Anton Korinevich said on the ATR TV channel.
“The position of Milos Zeman is fundamentally different from the position of the entire Czech leadership. The Czech Republic, as you know, strongly condemned Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and the occupation of Crimea. In all international organizations it speaks out in support of Ukraine, it joins sanctions against the aggressor country. What has been done is his position; in fact, in the presidential elections he always enjoyed great support, including material support, from Putin. Apparently, he is working on this now,” said Verkhovna Rada deputy, former Chairman of the Mejlis Refat Chubarov.
