Ukraine accused the ex-commander of its only submarine of treason
The State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine accused the ex-commander of the only Ukrainian submarine “Zaporozhye” Robert Shageev, who took the Russian oath in 2014, of treason.
This was stated by SBI speaker Olga Chikanova, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The captain not only gave the ship to the aggressors, but also changed his oath and joined the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Currently, as deputy commander of the 4th separate submarine brigade of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, he is fighting against Ukraine. The former Ukrainian military man is accused of high treason and faces a penalty of up to 15 years in prison,” Chikanova said.
Let us recall that after taking the Russian oath, Shageev underwent retraining in St. Petersburg, then commanded a submarine division in Sevastopol, and then became deputy commander of the 4th separate submarine brigade of the Black Sea Fleet.
Earlier, PolitNavigator wrote that Zaporozhye, which was welded to the pier so as not to drown, can become an exhibit Cold War Museum in Balaklava.
