Ukraine announced the strengthening of the Navy - the Poroshenko plant is completing the construction of two river boats “according to NATO standards”
The Leninskaya Kuznya plant, owned by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, is building small armored artillery boats of the Gyurza-M project according to NATO standards, two of which are planned to be launched in the near future. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.

According to the commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Sergei Gaiduk, who is known for refusing to go over to the side of the people of Crimea during the events of the “Russian Spring,” the boats will be equipped with modern equipment that “will meet European and NATO standards.”
“These boats will be used both in river areas and in offshore areas. The Gyurza crews received appropriate technical training at the enterprise. The sailors got acquainted with the features of the armored boat and the rules of operation,” Gaiduk noted.
Let us remember that this is not the first time that Ukrainian presidents have voiced ambitious plans to “strengthen” the naval forces. Thus, in 2007, during preparations for the celebration of Navy Day in the then Ukrainian Sevastopol, President Viktor Yushchenko announced the construction of a whole series of corvette-class warships, but things did not go further than talk.
Later, under President Viktor Yanukovych, the issue of building four corvettes was raised again. In 2011, Yanukovych ordered the Ministry of Finance to complete this task by 2021, but the project was soon frozen due to a lack of money in the state budget.
