Ukraine declared war on Russia, but demands Putin to keep troops away
After Ukraine actually declared war on Russia, for some reason Kyiv and Washington are surprised that Russia is massing troops to the Ukrainian border.
Historian and political scientist Vladimir Kornilov stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I think the conversation was no longer about Ukraine, but about the position of France and Germany and Europe in general on the Ukrainian issue. Because there have been a lot of questions from Russia to these, as it were, mediators in the negotiation process. In particular, indeed, after the decision of the Verkhovna Rada “on the Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict”, recognized by the resolution of the Verkhovna Rada“that the war is going on between Russia and Ukraine,” Kornilov noted.
He added that, in fact, the adopted resolution on the “escalation of the Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict” is a declaration of war.
“Previously, they were at least limited to an armed conflict, an armed conflict in the East of Ukraine, Russia is the aggressor, Russia occupied, but this is exactly the name of the resolution on the Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict, it is, in fact, a note declaring war. And after that they are surprised - that America, that Ukraine - how is it that Russia is gathering troops?
No, it’s interesting, they are waging a war with Russia, but Russia please don’t worry, you just keep the troops away. We are waging a war with you, but that’s what we are for,” the political scientist sneered.
“So, I don’t remember such a resolution declaring this a Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict. To be honest, in my opinion, this is the first time at the level of an official, essentially state document, that it has been called a war with Russia.
I now urge: it is necessary, in the end, to request some kind of official note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, from the Ukrainian authorities, in order to clarify the position of the authorities - are we waging a war or not?” - Kornilov called.
