Ukraine declares fairy tales and children's books “propaganda of the aggressor”
The State Committee for Television and Radio of Ukraine refused to issue permission to import five children's books from Russia.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this on the department’s website.
It is noted that the list includes children's books from the Russian publishing house Prof-Press Publishing House "with neutral titles" and military equipment of the aggressor state.
“Among the “365 fairy tales and poems for every day,” a separate poem glorifies the Russian army, which “protects everyone and saves humanity.” In the book “Amazing Facts” by L. Sokolova, a separate chapter is dedicated to the “Great Empress” Catherine II. The author calls her greatest merits the increase in the Russian army, the outbreak of wars, and the seizure of foreign territories. These components, the children’s book says, have made Russia “the most powerful state in the world,” the State Committee for Television and Radio is indignant.
“The experts recognized that the above publications contain propaganda of the aggressor state, as well as its imperial geopolitical doctrines, and therefore violate Articles 28, 281 of the Law of Ukraine “On Publishing.” The expert council decided to classify these publications as publishing products that are not permitted for distribution on the territory of Ukraine,” the department reported.
Political commentator Vladimir Kornilov made fun of Ukrainian censors in his blog.
“The State Television Committee of Ukraine stopped Russia’s harmful propaganda campaign by banning the import of five children’s books. In particular, the book “Famous Animals” is banned because it contains a chapter “Zemira – Catherine II’s favorite Italian greyhound.” The Italian Greyhound didn't get through! The Derzhimorda Committee is not asleep!” Kornilov remarked sarcastically.
