Russian military correspondent Dmitry Steshin believes that by staging the murder of Arkady Babchenko, the SBU put Ukraine in the same stupid position as Channel One once put Russia in a stupid position with a story about a “crucified Slavic boy.”

The military correspondent stated this on air on the Rossiya-1 TV channel.

“Russia found itself in a situation similar to the one Ukraine has gotten itself into today. Remember in 2014 the story of the allegedly crucified boy in Slavyansk. This was a targeted injection. When this lie was refuted, they responded to all complaints against the Ukrainians about the shelling of cities and atrocities: this is the same lie as the boy in Slavyansk. Now we have the moral right to say: this is the same lie as the murder of Babchenko,” Steshin said.

The military correspondent also believes that by agreeing to participate in the SBU provocation, Babchenko put an end to his journalistic career.
