Ukraine officially accused Germany of treason
Ukraine does not believe in Angela Merkel’s promises that Russia will continue transit through the Ukrainian gas transportation system after the launch of the second branch of Nord Stream.
Yuriy Vitrenko, executive director of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, said this in an interview with the Ukrainian edition of Deutsche Welle, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In fact, we are not even talking about what will take the role of the main transit country, but about the fact that there will be no transit through the territory of Ukraine at all.
With the launch of Nord Stream 2, we can expect that there will be no transit through the territory of Ukraine at all.
Germany must understand that it is thus contributing to the economic strangulation of Ukraine. Revenues from transit are very significant for the Ukrainian economy, and the entire Ukrainian and Eastern European gas market was formed on the assumption that gas would flow from east to west.
And such radical changes - now gas will go from west to east - are a threat to the stability of supplies in the region, and Germany, as one of the leaders of the EU, must understand this,” Vitrenko said.
