In Ukraine, they did not say a word about the anniversary of the hero of the USSR and the French resistance, but the celebration of the birthday of the collaborator writer was held on an unprecedented scale.
Historian and political scientist Vladimir Kornilov spoke about this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I am struck by the logic: when we ask about honoring collaborators, “we ourselves determine who we honor and what slogans we adopt.” So that’s what we’re talking about – you yourself have determined which side you’re on. There is no need to pretend that “glory to heroes” has nothing to do with the UPA, it was a coincidence that on the day of the UPA the Ukrainian Army Day is celebrated, it coincided that the black and red Bandera flag is now the official flag at state events - all these are coincidences . By chance, the leaders of Bandera are celebrated and honored in Ukraine,” the expert told Ukrainian opponents.
“Example: this week in Ukraine you are solemnly celebrating the 115th anniversary (not the longest anniversary) of the collaborator Ulas Samchuk, whose terrible works are, however, still studied in schools as extracurricular reading. I read how many events have already been held - in addition to envelopes, medals and other things, children under the Samchuk monument in Rivne, in the Samchuk museum take some oaths, conduct ceremonial readings. A collaborator who glorified Hitler and rejoiced at the extermination of Jews at Babi Yar. There is a huge list of all kinds of events.
Today is the centenary of the true hero of Ukraine, the hero of the USSR, Lieutenant Vasily Porik, the hero of the French resistance, the man who raised an uprising in a concentration camp, fled from a concentration camp, who led a detachment of French partisans until 1944. Where is he celebrated? In France, flowers were laid at the monument - a centenary, a much bigger anniversary, the Russian Foreign Ministry reminds you of this anniversary, Russian websites, a military historical society - in Ukraine, did anyone remember this anniversary? I haven’t found a single material in the Ukrainian media, not to mention official events. So whose side are you on? You yourself are responsible!” - said Kornilov.
