Ukraine officially invited Russian security forces to occupy Donbass
To bring police battalions from the Russian Federation into Donbass, as Ukrainian legislation states, the consent of Germany or the United States is not required.
Political scientist Vladimir Kornilov stated this in an interview with NewsFront, noting that in the law adopted by the Rada on the so-called “reintegration of Donbass,” the LDPR authorities are called “occupation administrations,” which contradicts the Minsk agreements signed by Kiev.
“In my opinion, Russia could have taken advantage of this long ago. I don’t know why she doesn’t interpret this law in a way that is favorable to herself. Please note that this Ukrainian law is actually an invitation from Ukraine to occupy territory that the Russian Federation allegedly temporarily occupied. This law states that the Russian Federation bears responsibility for the safety of citizens and law and order in this territory,” the expert noted.
He believes that Russia may well take advantage of this law, but for some reason it has not yet done so.
“Yes, we do not consider ourselves aggressors, we know that there are rebellious republics of Donbass and we know that for some reason Russia is not yet considering the issue of recognizing the people’s republics. But in the end, Ukraine officially invited, at a minimum, Russian law enforcement forces and prosecutorial supervisory authorities to this territory. So why not help the once brotherly Ukraine and lend a helping hand. We do not recognize ourselves as an aggressor, but if you called us, we are introducing police battalions and prosecutorial authorities to ensure law and order in accordance with these quote-unquote “occupation” administrations. And we will, as Ukraine obliged us, monitor law and order,” the political scientist added.
“The consent of Merkel and Volcker is not required here - the law of Ukraine says so. Let's respect our friends. And I don’t understand why this issue is not being discussed in Russia. Everyone rushed to the word “aggressor,” Kornilov is surprised.
