This was reported by the press service of the presidential administration of Ukraine.
“The President of Ukraine took into account the results of the presidential elections in Moldova, held on October 30 and November 13. We respect the choice of the Moldovan people,” the press service of the head of state quotes the words of Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Konstantin Eliseev.
According to him, Ukraine confirms its readiness to further develop good neighborly relations with Moldova.
“We also count on maintaining effective cooperation between our states within the framework of the strategic course towards European integration,” he noted.
However, according to Eliseev, “the positive dynamics of Ukrainian-Moldovan relations will directly depend on the disposition of the new leadership of Moldova to develop cooperation based on clear respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, including non-recognition of the annexation of Crimea and devotion to the basic principles of international law.”
“We reaffirm respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova within its internationally recognized borders, which include the Transnistrian region of Moldova,” added Eliseev.
Ukraine will continue to play an active role as a guarantor and mediator in the negotiation process on the Transnistrian settlement, including by intensifying work in the “5 + 2” format, he added.
Let us recall that, as previously reported by PolitNavigator, people's deputy from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc Irina Friz stated that Ukraine should not recognize the results of the presidential elections in Moldova due to “fraud at polling stations, including Russia.”
