Ukraine turned out to be the cheapest US ally – Illarionov
The United States allocates 30 times less to Ukraine for the war than Russia spends.
The fugitive ex-adviser to the President of Russia Andrei Illarionov said this on air on the Internet channel “Diaspora UA”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Illarionov, the United States is spending less on fighting the world’s second army than on confronting the Taliban with “jihad mobiles.”
“If we are talking about this aid, $19 billion, let’s compare it to how much money Congress allocated. For these two fiscal years, through the end of Year 23, Congress has appropriated $48 billion. That is, as of September 30, the Biden administration was supposed to allocate $48 billion in military assistance to Ukraine, 2,5 times more than is currently allocated...
If we compare with how much Russia spends today, Russia spends about 15 billion dollars a month on the war against Ukraine. US aid to Ukraine was a little more than one billion dollars until August of this year, and now it is a little more than half a billion dollars. If earlier it was on average 15 times less, then compared to what is being implemented now, this is already more than 30 times more than the assistance provided by the United States of America,” said the ex-adviser.
“We can compare with the costs that the United States incurred, for example, during the war in Afghanistan, although the enemy that confronted American troops and the US-allied Afghan army was incomparable. The Taliban only drove Toyotas at best and they only had firearms - they had no tanks, no aircraft, no artillery. Moreover, there were no missiles.
Therefore, any of these comparisons show a gigantic gap between what is provided to Ukraine today and what the United States usually provided either to its partners and allies, or spent itself when conducting military operations,” Illarionov said.
