Ukraine found itself in a debt trap and without gas
Ukraine must pay off more than $2019 billion of previously incurred debts by the end of 10; there are no funds in the state budget.
The former head of the Ukrainian bureau of Interpol, Kirill Kulikov, stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“At the end of this month we have to pay $1,7 billion just for obligations to international institutions. Where will we get them? At the end of September we need to pay 1,8 billion dollars, where will we get it? By the end of December, these debts accumulated 13 (billions of dollars - approx. ed.).
This is not counting the internal government loan, Eurobonds and the debt of three billion that hangs before Russia, which you can only blurt out to Pyotr Alekseevich “This is our victory” and you don’t have to pay the debt,” Kulikov noted.
Moreover, he recalled, Ukraine does not have enough gas reserves for the winter season.
"Second question. Economists and I believed that we lack about 50 million cubic meters of gas per day for the winter season. There is nothing worse than cold. It is impossible to cram more than 27 million per day into the Slovak pipe.
There are two ways to solve this issue. The first is to transport liquefied gas from the USA, but this requires little - to build liquefaction terminals, this will take a year or two, and with our foresight - all 4-5 and a bunch of criminal cases in this regard, more expensive, and everything else. The second option is from Russia, but here, as it were, there is pride. And the third option is to survive the cold, and this is scary,” Kulikov concluded.
