Ukraine found itself out of the game regarding Nord Stream 2 – Klimkin
The United States and the European Union agreed to make decisions on Nord Stream without the participation of Ukraine, because its position is too emotional and inflexible.
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin stated this in an interview with the DW news agency, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Klimkin, Ukraine was “out of the game”, and decisions made were only conveyed to it.
“We are not in the game today. We are not part of the decision-making process regarding Nord Stream. This was one of Zelensky’s key tasks for negotiations with Biden. Whether this problem has been solved during the tête-à-tête, we will see very quickly over the next weeks, perhaps months.
But what I hear from Washington, from Berlin, from Brussels, from Paris is that today the strategy is to make decisions in a narrow circle and, unfortunately, we are not part of this narrow circle. Our partners worry that our position may be emotional and inflexible. And it’s easier to make decisions without us, then talk to us about the implementation of these decisions. This is a real problem,” Klimkin said.
