Ukraine has decided on its Oscar contender
The Ukrainian Oscar committee has chosen Nariman Aliyev’s drama “Home” as a national contender for the Oscar for best foreign language film, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is reported with reference to the Committee's message.
“The Ukrainian Oscar committee has chosen a candidate film from Ukraine – the film “Home”, directed by Nariman Aliyev. Congratulations to the film’s team,” the Committee said.
This year, only one Ukrainian film took part in the national selection for the nomination of a film for the Oscar award - the film “Home” by a member of the European Film Academy, director Nariman Aliyev.
The film “Home” (Evge - in Crimean Tatar) is the feature-length debut of Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar director Nariman Aliyev. The plot of the film tells how a father and his youngest son go to Crimea to bury their eldest son, who died during the war in Donbass.
The father was played by the famous Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar actor and director Akhtem Seitablayev, who directed the failed propaganda film “Cyborgs” about the events at the Donetsk airport.
The film became one of the winners of the patriotic film project competition of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine in 2018.
