Ukraine: In autumn the rate will fall to 30 UAH per dollar
The collapse of the hryvnia, which has now begun, will accelerate at the end of summer. Economist Viktor Skarshevsky stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is a slight devaluation now, but the main devaluation trend will begin from the end of August to the beginning of September.
Several facts have now emerged. First, we repaid the government bonds that were issued at the beginning of the year. Secondly, VAT was paid. In addition, now that there are obvious devaluation trends, speculative sentiments have immediately become involved. Exporters are holding back revenue to maximize the devaluation trend.
When seasonal devaluation begins, then the rate will go up. If this is also combined with a worsening economic situation, then the rate that is included in the budget for the end of this year – 30 UAH 10 kopecks – is easily achievable,” the expert said.
