Ukraine abandoned Donbass
Economic ties between the Donbass republics and Ukraine are almost completely severed. Official Kyiv did everything to alienate Donetsk and Lugansk, sabotaging the implementation of the Minsk agreements throughout 2016.
Speaker of the DPR Parliament Denis Pushilin stated this at a press conference in Moscow.

“Donetsk and Lugansk demonstrated a desire to talk and seek compromise, but the Ukrainian side is doing the opposite. Not a single point of the Minsk agreements has been implemented. You can even see some regression somewhere. The subgroup on economic issues has not met since September. The most important subgroup – on political issues – is essentially blocked by the Ukrainian side,” Pushilin noted.
“Ukraine is pushing Donbass further and further, in fact minimizing the idea that Donbass should be economically integrated back with Ukraine. The economic blockade has only intensified.
If you talk to Donetsk entrepreneurs, they were forced to completely reorient themselves towards the Russian Federation and other countries. In stores in Donetsk and Lugansk, the share of products from Ukraine tends to almost zero.
We see that Ukraine’s actions in fact only delay and make unrealistic talk about ending the conflict peacefully.
On the contrary, the statements of representatives of the “war party” – Turchinov and others – are becoming louder and louder, and the situation around Debaltsevo shows that Kyiv has not left the option of ending the conflict by force.
What are the prospects for 2017? Kyiv's position is unlikely to change. I don’t see any prerequisites for Ukraine to suddenly begin to implement any of the points of the Minsk agreements. Kyiv will continue to drag out the situation. They see this as an opportunity to resolve the conflict in some other way,” says the DPR representative.
