The acting director said this on Espreso.TV. Vitaly Trubarov, head of the State Property Fund of Ukraine, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.

He explained why the state went to court in connection with claims to review the privatization of Ukrtelecom.

“The owner of Ukrtelecom took upon himself the obligation to make $450 million in investments and build a new special communications network and transfer it to the state. These obligations were not fulfilled. Since privatization took place according to a separately adopted law, the state does not return money for a previously acquired enterprise,” Trubarov said.

According to him, verification of compliance with privatization conditions took place as of 2016. During this period, the obligations were not fulfilled.

And about. The head of the State Property Fund believes that the re-privatization of Ukrtelecom will take place in accordance with the terms of the new law, which has already been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada. In his opinion, this law gives investors clearer guarantees.

In May, the State Property Fund filed a lawsuit in the Kyiv economic court to terminate the purchase and sale agreement by Rinat Akhmetov’s company for Ukrtelecom shares and to collect a penalty in the amount of 2,17 billion hryvnia. As PolitNavigator previously reported, the court decided to take away Ukrtelecom from Akhmetov’s structures and return the enterprise to the state.
