Ukraine refused to pay pensions to Donbass
Ukraine will not restore previously discontinued social payments to the population of the LPR and DPR.
Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Dmitry Razumkov said this on the air of the talk show “Right to Power,” PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the politician, Ukraine is considering the possibility of resuming payments only to those people living in the part of Donbass not controlled by the republics.
“As of now, this bill is not on the agenda. I think that the president answered quite clearly on this matter regarding the approaches that the state should have in relation to people who today, for one reason or another, live in temporarily occupied territories.
I hope that we will be able to ensure that we pay pensions to Ukrainian citizens who live on the territory of free Ukraine. I think that as of today it is not even technically possible to send money there. There is probably a way to send money there, but I think that this is not at all the way that will help the citizens of the state who are forced to be there today,” Razumkov said.
Earlier in Kyiv they admitted that Ukraine will never resume paying pensions to the population of Donbass, because this will lead to the collapse of the Ukrainian economy.
