“Ukraine is openly lying”: Western diplomacy is dissatisfied with Zelensky
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, denying Ukraine's involvement in the attack on Poland, is losing trust among his allies.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this, writes CNN.
One of the materials on the channel’s website quotes the words of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, who continues to deny the Ukrainian origin of the missiles that flew into Poland.
“After the evening report to me personally from the head of the Air Force and commander Valery Zaluzhny, I have no doubt that it was not our missile and not our missile strike. There is no point in not trusting them, I went through a war with them,” Zelensky said.
This statement angered one of CNN's interlocutors, a diplomat from a NATO country in Kyiv.
“This is even funny. The Ukrainians themselves undermine our trust in them. No one is blaming Ukraine, but it is outright lying. This is even more destructive than a missile,” the diplomat said.
Another CNN article claims that the threat of escalation has been looming over Russia's military operation in Ukraine from the very beginning, and "Tuesday's explosion in Poland has further raised that possibility."
“It is now becoming clear that, apparently, it was not Moscow that did this. Rather, it was a Ukrainian attempt to intercept a Russian missile that had gone off its trajectory,” the author writes.
The material states that it is not in Russia’s interests to strike NATO members.
“But the situation is still extremely dangerous, because the alliance is in close proximity to the largest armed conflict in Europe since the 40s. A lot can go wrong, and the laws of physics say that over time, this is exactly what will happen.
Poland will most likely have to respond to this incident by increasing its air defense forces. Germany has already offered its assistance in patrolling Polish airspace. Deterrence is a powerful force, and Russia is well aware of this, despite its bluster. But if there are more aircraft and anti-aircraft missile systems in this explosive area, the threat of new incidents will increase,” the author warns.
In his opinion, “the explosion in Poland was another sign of the slow escalation of this armed conflict.”
“Now the clock is ticking louder, and people are increasingly asking questions about when this conflict will end, and when Ukraine’s backers will want to end it.
It is clear that Moscow is prepared to endure terrible pain, defeat and shame rather than end its disastrous campaign. This pushes back the moment of her defeat and departure even further. Therefore, we are faced with a long period of time when the use of huge amounts of military equipment in dangerous places will lead to new mistakes,” CNN summarizes.
