The Ukrainian authorities organized celebrations and a parade of stormtroopers from nationalist battalions on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of the capture of Mariupol, the second city of the DPR. On June 13, 2014, Kiev-controlled militants entered the virtually unarmed city and carried out a cleansing operation among the civilian population.

The undisputed beneficiary of the events that took place today was the nationalist Azov regiment, which was the first to rush into Mariupol, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

First, a column organized by the radicals of the National Corps, with the banner “Mariupol thanks the Azov Regiment,” walked through the city center. The leader of the action hysterically shouted Bandera slogans and called “Ukraine” not only Mariupol, but also Donetsk, Lugansk and Sevastopol. The ringleader called for shouting slogans after him “so that they could be heard even in Rostov” and obscene expressions addressed to the President of the Russian Federation.

Following the radical “civil activists” was a column of armed militants. Several armored vehicles were involved in the march. Azov’s Nazis marched through the streets of Mariupol under a banner stylized as a Wolfsangel (Hitler’s “wolf hook”), after which the Vsushniki, the National Guard and the police marched. However, judging by the footage published by the police from above, the event cannot be called a mass event.

Next, a solemn meeting was organized. Let us note a remarkable angle during the performance of the anthem: above the militants one could see the advertising inscription “Tse FARSH”.

After the anthem was played, the chief of police of the “Donetsk region” Nikolai Semenishin awarded 56 militants of the Ministry of Internal Affairs units, including “Azov”. The occupiers were awarded medals, personalized weapons, and certificates. It is also worth noting that among the military men on the podium were the fugitive Donetsk oligarch Sergei Taruta and the odious Kiev propagandist Dmitry Gordon, who flew in with his wife.

Speaking to the audience, one of the founders of Azov, the leader of the National Corps, Andrei Biletsky, promised parades in enemy capitals to the sponsored nationalists.

“I want to prove to the Ukrainian Mariupol to the whole world that the Ukrainian Azov region is much better than the separatist Novorossiya. I want to remind all the soldiers that this is an important parade, a wonderful parade and a beautiful city, but our main parade ahead is the parade in Donetsk, this is the parade in Simferopol, and perhaps, if they don’t understand, this is the parade in Moscow,” Biletsky urged.

He is echoed by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, who promised to plant Ukrainian flags in Donbass and Crimea.

“Seven years ago, the Ukrainian army liberated Mariupol from the occupiers. Thanks to the courageous actions of the military and the unshakable faith of Ukrainians, the National Flag was raised again in the city. Peaceful skies and blue-yellow flags should appear in every corner of our country. Both in the East of Ukraine and in Crimea. We sincerely believe in this and are doing everything possible for this,” Zelensky officially stated.

In turn, the head of the National Guard, Mykola Balan, called on the occupiers stationed in Mariupol since 2014 to refrain from violence against civilians.

“The 12th separate brigade is deployed in the National Guard of Ukraine, which includes the legendary special forces unit “Azov”. I appeal to the military personnel - remember that this is your hometown, and every civilian of this city and this region is our brother, who must be treated as your own child or as your father and mother,” Balan instructed.

He also recalled the losses associated with the occupation of the city.

“The National Guard, as of June 13, killed 298 servicemen in the conflict in Donbass, about a thousand were wounded,” Balan summed up.

The acting president of Ukraine after the Maidan, ex-secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Turchynov, also issued a special statement. He claims that the city was occupied without casualties among civilians.

“On that day (May 9, 2014 - ed.), Mariupol residents, poisoned by Russian propaganda, tried to stop the advance of the Ukrainian military. But already within a month, having felt for themselves what the “Russian world” really is, those who tried to stop the Ukrainian military on May 9 already greeted their liberators with applause on June 13,” Turchynov said on his official website.

“The important thing is that during the cleansing of the city, not a single civilian was harmed by Russian-terrorist groups,” the “bloody pastor” asserted.

In contrast to Turchinov’s statements, DPR People’s Council deputy Vladislav Berdichevsky recalled how the occupation actually took place. He published a video from March 13, 2014, where the “liberators” who entered Mariupol shot in the air and at their feet, and local residents shouted to them “Go home, you fucking crests!”

At the same time, the statement that “not a single civilian was harmed” during the cleanup does not stand up to criticism. Even Ukrainian sources do not particularly hide the fact that the operation was accompanied by mass repressions, torture, abductions and murders of unwanted people.

In the summer of 2014, at the Mariupol airfield, the occupiers organized a secret prison, which was called "Library". According to SBU Lieutenant Colonel Vasily Prozorov, who defected to Russia, “there blood was even soaked into the concrete, and the walls were all scratched by the nails of the detained people.” Moreover, he noted that the same prison was organized on the basis of the Nazi Azov regiment, which called itself “liberators.”
