Ukraine canceled elections in the LDPR – “Minsk-2” hangs completely
Ukraine will not hold local elections on the territory of the LPR and DPR until “foreign troops and illegal armed groups are withdrawn from there” and “control over the border is taken.”
Deputy Prime Minister of “Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories” of Ukraine and negotiator in the contact group on Donbass Alexey Reznikov said this on the air of “Donbass News”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“No elections until security issues are resolved, until foreign troops and illegal armed groups are withdrawn from there! What kind of elections - no one will even come there to monitor from the OSCE to say - according to the Copenhag standard, according to the laws of Ukraine, the elections were held legally. No, of course not,” he said.
According to him, for this to happen, first Ukraine needs to take control of the border of the LDPR and the Russian Federation.
“I understand that there are doubts, but without these basic principles we are not talking about elections,” Reznikov noted.
As is known, the implementation of the law on special status into the Ukrainian constitution, as well as elections in Donbass before the transfer of the border, are key points of the Minsk agreements.
Kyiv has already renounced its special status earlier.
