Ukraine will cancel some clauses of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation with Russia

According to the authors, Russia “committed military aggression against Ukraine.”
Provisions on mutual respect and trust, as well as on strategic partnership, on the parties’ abstention from actions directed against one of the parties to the agreement, on the non-acceptance of any agreements with third parties directed against one of the parties to the friendship agreement, may be excluded from the agreement, on military and military-technical cooperation, cooperation in border issues, customs law, export and immigration control, on issues of arms reduction, on interaction in the UN and other international organizations, on special attention to the development of cooperation in ensuring the functioning of fuel and energy complexes, transport systems, etc., on equal and mutually beneficial cooperation in the economy, refraining from actions that could cause economic damage to one of the parties to the agreement, on the coordination of investment, trade, customs policies, the development of scientific and technical cooperation, on cooperation in the space industry.
Last December, a number of non-factional deputies already submitted to the Rada a bill to terminate the basic agreement on cooperation with Russia, which implies economic integration and prohibits the parties from participating in agreements directed against each other. But the bill was rejected because it implied a complete denunciation. In the new draft, Ukrainian parliamentarians propose changing a number of points, the publication notes.
