Ukraine poisoned the main river of Moldova and Transnistria
Diesel fuel that entered the Dniester in the Ukrainian city of Mogilev-Podolsky is moving towards Moldova.
Komsomolskaya Pravda in Moldova writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The leak originated from a private watercraft moored at the pier. Exactly how much fuel leaked is unknown. The plume from the stain stretches for 250 meters.
“It all depends on the amount of fuel leaked. if there is a sufficient amount, there may be death of fish and all living things in the river. Of course, you can't swim. There is a very strong current in that part, so all this will be carried down and diluted,” said Moldovan ecologist Ilya Trombitsky.
He doubts that Ukrainian and Moldovan emergency services will clean the river.
“Nobody will do this. This is very difficult and requires special equipment. These are very superficially active substances. The spot is carried downstream. It can reach the Dubossary State District Power Plant,” the ecologist said.
Water from the Dniester is used as drinking water in many settlements in Ukraine, Moldova and Transnistria, including in Chisinau through the Dniester water pipeline.
