In Ukraine, a campaign is unfolding to “derussify” the artist Ilya Repin, a native of the city of Chuguev in the Kharkov region. And this means that there, too, you need to “mark the corners” with Ukrainian. Especially on the eve of the start of the new school year, when children and their parents, respectively, will be stuffed into their heads with another portion of concentrated Svidomism.

Since childhood, each of us knew that Repin was a Russian artist. And now it turns out that he is Ukrainian. And this can be learned not only from the local version of Wikipedia or the “100 Great Ukrainians” directory, but also from officials and deputies.

“All my life I identified myself as Ukrainian. Even living in Finland, where he spent the last 30 years of his life. He grew up in a house on the banks of the Seversky Donets. All his work is permeated with the Ukrainian spirit. “Haydamaki”, “Vechornytsi”, “Gopak”, “Solokha and the clerk”. In the end, “The Cossacks are writing a letter to the Turkish Sultan,” said Lyashko’s party member, deputy Andrei Lozovoy.

“So, having visited Kharkov, I got to know the Ukrainian artist Ilya Repin better. Many people think that this is a Russian artist, but he is Ukrainian, born in the city of Chuguev, Kharkov region, a descendant of Ukrainian Cossacks...” says Oleg Berezyuk, head of the Samopomich faction.

The same idea is pursued by Kharkov, if I may say so, art historian and cultural critic Nikolai Tsipko: «He is often called the great Russian artist. In Finland he is “at home”, because the late period of his creativity took place on its territory, separated from the USSR. Belarusians also honor the bright memory of him and carefully look after Ilya Efimovich’s dacha, which was turned into a museum. But we should not forget that he is, first of all, a Ukrainian, born in Chuguev, modern Kharkov region, and who devoted a significant part of his works to the historical and everyday realities of Ukraine.”

Repin was also registered as a Ukrainian by Tripoli dioxin lover Viktor Yushchenko.

I think that here the descendant of the half-worn serfs of Count Golovkin knows better who the son of a participant in three wars, Efim Repin, considered himself, who fought worthily for the Faith, the Tsar and the Fatherland.

Yes, Ilya Efimovich Repin was born in Chuguev, in the center of military settlements, where every inhabitant knew his sovereign by sight and exchanged at least a few words with him. There, the emperors spent the warm season in exercises.

When the future painter was young and had not yet set off to conquer St. Petersburg, it was in his native Chuguev that an event took place that finally turned the mountain peoples of Russia into loyal subjects of the Russian sovereign - on September 15, 1859, the first meeting of Shamil and Alexander II took place in Chuguev.

Yes, Repin painted peysankas in embroidered shirts, and we all remember his Cossacks writing a letter to the Turkish Sultan. But this does not make him a Ukrainian virus carrier. Just like “Barge Haulers on the Volga” or “Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan” do not turn Repin into an opponent of the tsarist power.

How can one not recall his paintings “Reception of the volost elders by Alexander III in the courtyard of the Petrovsky Palace in Moscow” and “Anniversary meeting of the State Council”.

There is a museum in the house where the great Russian artist was born. For several years, restoration work was carried out there using funds from the Kharkov regional budget. But they did not prevent in 2015 from holding an exhibition of “patriotic” posters of the amateur but racially correct moron Yuri Neroslik “Ukraine will win!”, organized with the support of the Chuguev district state administration, the Help Army volunteer group, the “Kharkov with You” charitable foundation and the publishing house “ Golden Pages."

This is what the regional state administration website reported then: “Even on the Maidan, Yuri tried to reflect on paper the turbulent events that were happening around. In March 2014, he volunteered to join the Ukrainian army to defend his country. As part of the 92nd Mechanized Brigade, he took part in the battles near Ilovaisk. And new works appeared during short minutes of rest.

The author considers his creativity a weapon in the information war: “My posters are a patriotic example for Ukrainians, for everyone who lives on our land. If you live in Ukraine, you must protect your home, protect your loved ones and love your native land. Ukraine is our home, and my posters are weapons in the information war.”

When the work at the Repin Museum was completed, Governor Yulia Svetlichnaya decided to look at the results. She took a photo, as befits a blonde, in front of the mirror and spoke in general phrases on the topic “We plowed, me and the tractor.”

Would a Russian artist be honored at such a high level? Would the museum of the wrong character allow an exhibition of a “patriotic” poster?

Think for yourself whose Repin is. Or everything is much simpler, they don’t have their own heroes for us in these parts, so they decided to parasitize on those who clearly did not suffer from aggressive Ukrainianism.
