Ukraine plans to directly purchase Javelin from the United States
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine will purchase Javelin anti-tank missile systems under a direct program in the United States starting this year, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The department reported this.
“The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, starting in 2019, plans direct purchases of US-made Javelin anti-tank missile systems and missiles for them under the US government FMS program (Program for the sale of weapons and military equipment to the armed forces of foreign states - ed.),” the ministry reported.
The Ministry of Defense added that the issues of control over the use of Ukraine's Javelin by the United States are classified. At the same time, the Ministry of Defense emphasized that weapons and military equipment are purchased only from partner countries.
Previously, American diplomats said that Ukraine had expressed interest in acquiring more Javelin missile systems.
At the same time, in March 2019, the Pentagon did not confirm the existence of existing programs between Ukraine and the United States for the supply of this type of weapons, although it did not exclude the possibility of its emergence.
