The Cabinet of Ministers has already handed over to the Security Council a list of 172 individuals - citizens of Russia and other states and 65 legal entities of predominantly Russian property, “who support and finance terrorism and are directly related to the commission of crimes on the territory of Ukraine.”
The government press service clarifies that the decision on sanctions “was made after a series of consultations between the Cabinet of Ministers and Western partners and within the framework of coordination with Western partners.” “The Head of Government also held a meeting with the special ambassador of the United States of America, who is personally responsible for the introduction of sanctions,” Yatsenyuk clarifies.
According to the bill, Ukraine has the right to apply 26 types of sanctions, including: freezing assets; prohibition of activities of business entities on the territory of Ukraine; ban on the use of radio frequency resources, the Internet and other means of communication; ban on participation in the privatization of state property; ban on using licenses; a complete or partial ban on the transit of all types of resources; special economic measures, including licensing and quota procedures; Conducting special types of audits of financial transactions; stopping financial transactions; as well as standard types of sanctions - a ban on entry and movement.
“I spoke about all sanctions, including stopping all types of transit: both air travel and resources,” Yatsenyuk added, obviously meaning the cessation of Russian gas supplies to Europe.
The government also approved the decision to introduce a bill regarding the introduction of criminal legal sanctions: “This law allows Ukrainian courts to make decisions in relation to persons who are on the international wanted list, and therefore cannot be escorted to court, and in the event that the persons who are on the international wanted list have committed the following types of crimes: terrorist activities; crimes against the fundamentals of national security and defense; massacres and war crimes."
After the adoption of this act, Yatsenyuk emphasized, Ukrainian courts will have the right to pass sentences on persons who cannot be brought to court because they are on the international wanted list, and at the same time a sanction will be introduced to confiscate the property of these persons: “This means that no only the perpetrators, but also the organizers and those who ordered crimes against Ukraine will be subject to confiscation. The Ukrainian state will find throughout the world the property of banks, financial companies, enterprises and personal property of all individuals who supported the annexation of Crimea and are now supporting and financing Russian terrorists on the territory of Ukraine.”
